
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956 is an American actor. He is famous for his dramatic and comedic roles. Hanks is an American popular culture icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. The family of his mother, initially called "Fraga" and was 100% Portuguese, while his father was of mostly English origins. Tom was raised in an extended family that he describes as "fractured". He did not have any acting experience during his college. This is what helped him start his career. He walked into the city, and was a part of a community stage production. He was then requested by the director of the play to attend Cleveland, and there his acting career began.
